Part 1: Preparing for the next Real Estate Selling Season

As the holidays steadfastly approach, many people who have been unsuccessful in selling their home feel discouraged and perhaps even confused. Year after year, people all over metro Atlanta reach out to Paige Slyman to get his advice on ways they can set their home up for selling success. Think new year, new strategy.

Paige advises that there is 5 options for someone who has struggled to sell their home for a prolonged period of time.

Take a break
If your home has been on the market for an extended period of time without being sold, one of your options is to just simply “take a break” and wait for market conditions to improve. This option is not our first recommendation, but if you are frustrated and tried other strategies perhaps it is time for you to rest, regroup and come back into the market at a later time. Property management is a good option if you are looking to take a break.

Lower your asking price
Lowering your asking price is one of the most effective ways to increase your chances of selling your home. However, it is important to note that it is only advisable to lower your asking price after consulting with your REALTOR®. Your REALTOR® will practice the due diligence necessary to determine what the new price should actually be. They will also take into account what homes in your area are now going for, including foreclosures and short sales and adjust your asking price accordingly.

Change Marketing Strategies
If your current marketing strategy is not working, it is time to evaluate what you are doing right and wrong and make changes. Paige Slyman is an expert in counseling clients on both small and big tweaks to your current marketing strategy that can be implemented to increase your chances of selling. We also recommend visiting some of our previous blogs to get new ideas to enhance your current approach.

Property Management
Property management has become a very popular solution for a home that is having a hard time selling. By taking the home off the real estate market and placing it on a rental program allows you to have someone else offset the costs associated with owning the home, rather than have the home just sit empty. Often times, when homes are placed on property management the home owner can turn a nice profit each month as well, as rental prices are steadily rising. Paige Slyman also offers property management services.

Give Up
Your last option is to give up. However, before you do this, call Paige Slyman and let him come up with a customized and strategic approach to selling your home. Paige has spent over 2 decades guiding metro Atlantan home owners in the home selling process.

In closing, re-evaluation is key to success when selling a home that has been on the market for an extended period of time. Paige is an industry expert in real estate marketing strategy and can put you on the fast track path to selling your home.
